Greetings from Salt Lake City and the 53rd National GS convention! Last evening, our delegates (8 adults and 4 girls) from GSCSNJ were energized as we left the opening ceremonies. Keynote speaker Allison Levine shared HERStory of leadership as she climbed Mt. Everest not once, but twice! Her messages of courage, confidence and action resonated with adults and girls alike. Today, National Session officially convened to conduct business, and approved a modest change to wording in the Blue Book which will provide greater flexibility for membership options in the future. It was a thoughtful, open dialogue and ultimately a resounding majority vote in support. The best part of today's agenda was Anna Maria Chavez's announcement that GSUSA is developing new outdoor badges and programming to answer our call for more outdoor experience programming for girls, and better support for volunteers. The streets are flowing with Girl Scouts of all ages, and the common bond of our movement is strong in the swapping and sharing taking place all over Salt Lake City!
Stay tuned for more!
