Service Guide Dog Nala Gets a Girl Scout Welcome
On Monday, January 13, GSCSNJ Hessian Woods Service Unit welcomed Nala, a Service Guide Dog for local Girl Scout Volunteer and Service Unit Management team member, Julie. Nala, a Golden Retriever, is trained to assist Julie with day to day activities, including walking. Girl Scouts of all ages learned about the history of Service Guide Dogs, participate in a "blind walk" experiment, and welcomed Nala into the Girl Scout family. Nala's first Girl Scout outing was a special trip to the Disney on Ice at the Wells Fargo Center. Girl Scouts earned Greater LA Guide Dog Council's Own Badge.
