National Convention Delegate Applications & GSLI

Every three years, the members of the corporation of Girl Scouts of the USA (“GSUSA”) gather at a location, in meeting assembled, to conduct the business of the National Council (just as GSCSNJ meets once a year in an annual meeting).  As specified by GSUSA’s Constitution, each council is allowed two delegates plus one delegate for up to 2,000 registered girls, and an additional delegate for each 2,000 girl members registered as of September 30th of the year preceding the National Council meeting.  Adult delegates must be US Citizens and registered Girl Scouts.

GSCSNJ anticipates sending 12 delegates (including 2 girls) to the 2014 National Council Meeting and, based on the recommendations of the Council Nominating/Board Development Committee, the delegates will be elected at our 2014 Annual Meeting, to be held in the Spring of 2014.  Adults elected as National Council Delegates will be responsible for the convention registration fee of $345, and GSCSNJ will pay for your travel and room accommodations.  Girl Delegates’ travel, accommodations and registration fees will be paid by GSCSNJ.  If you are not elected, but would like to attend as an official visitor, you may do so at 100% of the cost.

Applications Due January 3 to Jan Anderson, janderson@gscsnj.org

The Girl Scout Leadership Institute is a triennial conference designed to provide girls 14 and older with three days actionable leadership skills tied to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.  Each GSLI is unique from previous ones, and the 2014 GSLI is no exception.  Girls will get the latest information on the issues they choose from experts in the field, work together in solutions, learn techniques for innovation, advocacy, and planning.  The GSLI experience will provide each girl with new friends, robust skills, new planning processes, a support system to meet her needs and action plans that provide her council and her with a significant and lasting return on investment, all delivered in a fun, engaging way.   GSUSA will determine the number of girls who can attend from each council.  GSCSNJ will cover the cost of travel, accommodations and a food stipend.

Applications Due January 10 to Jan Anderson, janderson@gscsnj.org
